Planking creates fun with your friends. You get to hang out with your friends and be silly with planking parks, homes, restaurants, and other places. My friends and I think it's fun to see other planker's pictures. It gives us ideas of where we could plank and it's a little competition. It's an adventure to find places where no one else has planked before. The Cottonwood Heights Planking Crew are the people I plank with, it's mainly five friends and myself going around to different neighborhoods looking for interesting places to plank. With that link you can view some of our pictures and also follow us if you'd like. We haven't done a lot lately because of the cold weather but when it warms up we intend to plank plenty of places.
Planking is non-violent and tries to keep kids occupied from getting into fights or doing drugs. You may get a few scrapes from falling or planking wrong but no intentional harm comes from planking. I've fallen a few times but haven't broken anything yet. Planking isn't offensive to people, unless the people hate other people having fun. There's only been one occasion where people actually yelled at us from a moving vehicle because we were planking. All other people will usually just laugh. I've even been applauded for planking an airport escalator. While planking isn't productive, it isn't destructive either. Planking is something you do to pass time while you are bored. Nothing will be produced from planking, is what I'm trying to say.
Planking keeps you from being bored and helps you keep your core in shape. I've cured many nights of boredom by going out with my friends and planking random areas that are around you. It has kept us from doing stupid things such as drugs or alcohol. It has helped out or creative side by making us think about possibilities of our next plank.
This sounds like a fun hobby. Is there larger c events related to this hobby, not in just Utah , but nationwide? The reason i ask, is to understand how largely practiced this hobby is nationwide.
ReplyDeleteIv been known to plank once or twice. I tend do a yoga pose (levers on hands) and/or brake dance styling, precarious perched some where people don't belong. Its fun and unproductive. I think you should put up a few photos of people planking.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think the controversy you brought up is pretty interesting, I would like to hear more.
Ohhh man, a blog about planking. Although a lot of these posts seem on the short side, I am actually pretty impressed that you were able to write/get this much information on planking. Kudos. Also, kudos for incorporating the word "shenanigans" into your about me section. A very underused word, if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteWhat a topic to choose for this class, but I like it! I've done some planking with my friends in the past, just being silly, but it's cool you have a team dedicated to the sport! It does take an intense amount of physical strength to plank some things, so I think it's a great way to keep in shape. I'm glad it's given you something to past the time and has kept you off drugs! I do have one critique of your blog, the font you used for your main content does not work too well when reading a paragraph, I'd suggest using it as the font for your headings and using the font you have on your headings for your content. - Mike Jones
ReplyDeleteThis is a way sweet topic. You definitely need to add some picture that show what planking is, maybe a few of your own. It is funny to think about the benefits of planking but you have definitely found some.
